I was walking on my lunch on a blustery day and heard a loud boom that sounded like a gunshot. It is an urban forest in Kitchener so I knew guns weren't allowed there. I turned to see a large maple snap off about 40 feet from the ground and crash to the forest floor. I see all the wind-falls on the ground but I have never experienced this first hand. I shouted a big woo who and the guy I just passed said " wasn't me" It is amazing to think how much strain a tree truck withstands on a windy day. A truly remarkably entity that responds with more strength as stresses increase. Be strong and or flexible if you want to survive, a good lesson for all
