Here are the legs all buffed up and the rails joined and ready to be shaped and polished. They get rounded and beveled so they appear lighter than they are. This piece requires a good deal of time shaping and sculpting but the results are worth it.  this is where furniture stops being furniture and starts to become an investment in art. Everyone needs cookie cutter furniture but every room deserves one piece of art. You can see a finished table like this on my store listed as side table.

Here is a good shot of the curves being roughed out. The first cut isn't quite completed so i can see marks when i rotate the piece ninety degrees.

Saturday night at the shop.  These table legs can be very very tricky with double kick outs. The wedge follows the process from the mortiser to the band saw then the deep curves are sawn. After that the peaceful work starts with curved hand plane and spoke shave and piles of aromatic walnut shavings.
